Qarun: He is the person who was famous for his wealth among the Children of Israel and because of this he began to see himself as the owner of everything and became arrogant towards Allah (ac). When Allah (ac) gives wealth, provides sustenance and expands the sustenance, how can we please Allah and be among the grateful and conversely, whatever you do, wealth will make you rebellious and take you to the Fire is explained and the fitna of wealth is mentioned. In general, the story of Qarun teaches us both the good and the evil of wealth. Verses read in the 12th lesson of the Tafseer of Surah Al-Qasas 76. Surely Qarun was from the people of Moses. (But) he was unruly and defiant towards them. We gave him a treasure so great that its keys would have been heavy for a strong group. And when his people said to him, "Do not be boastful. Allah does not love boasters." (28/76) 77. "Strive for the Home of the Hereafter with what Allah has given you, and do not forget your share in this world. Do good as Allah has bestowed good upon you. And do not seek mischief on earth. Allah does not love mischief-makers." (28/77) 78. He said, "This (wealth) was given to me because of the knowledge/experience/skill that is in me." Does he not know that before him Allah has destroyed those who were more powerful than him and whose wealth was much greater? And the criminals will not be asked about their sins? (28/Qasas, 78) 79. He appeared before his people in his adornment. Those who desired the worldly life said, "If only we could be given the like of what was given to Qarun. Indeed, he is in great fortune." (28/Qasas, 79) 80. Those who were given knowledge said, "Woe to you! The reward of Allah is best for those who believe and do righteous deeds." Only the patient will be successful. (28/Qasas, 80) 81. We caused him and his mansion to sink into the earth, and he had no community to help him against Allah. And he was not of those who helped themselves. (28/Qasas, 81) 82. Those who wished to be in his place yesterday would say in the morning: “Woe! So it is that Allah expands the provision for whomever He wills of His servants and restricts it. If Allah had not been good to us and protected us from being like Qarun, He would have caused the earth to swallow us. Woe!
