And recall when We said to the angels, “Prostrate to Adam,” and they all prostrated except Iblis. He was of the jinn, and he disobeyed the command of his Lord. Do you take him and his offspring for friends instead of me, while they are your enemies? Evil is what the wrongdoers have bartered for. 51. And I have not called them to witness the creation of the heavens and the earth, nor their own creation. And I will not take support from those who mislead. 52. On that Day It will be said to them, “Call those you claim as partners with Me.” They will call, but they will not respond, and We have placed between them a gulf. 53. And the guilty have seen the Fire and they have understood that they are going into it, and they have not found escape from it. 54. And We have certainly made for mankind in this Qur’an all kinds of examples. And man is most argumentative. 55. When guidance comes to people, what prevents them from believing and seeking forgiveness from their Lord is that they want to see the Sunnah or the punishment that befell those before them. 56. We send the Messengers only as bringers of good news and warners. But the disbelievers seek to suppress the truth by contending with falsehood, and they ridicule My verses and that with which they were warned. 57. And who is more unjust than he who is reminded of the verses of his Lord, and then turns away, and forgets what his hands have presented? We have placed a veil over their hearts, so that they do not understand, and in their ears we have put heaviness. Even if you call them to guidance, they will never find guidance. 58. Your Lord is the Forgiver, the Merciful. If He were to judge them according to what they have earned, He would have hastened the punishment upon them. On the contrary, they have their appointed time (for punishment), and they will not find refuge from it. 59. These are the towns (and their people) which We destroyed when they were wrongdoers. We have appointed a specified time for their destruction.
