Supertramp is one of the main rock bands of the 70s. Not only did it release several hits that are still literally playing on every TV, and with one of these hits it essentially paved the way for another musical group of the 2000s, but with its main album it changed the understanding of what a rock song is for radio rotation. This incredible success is largely due to the tandem of the band's authors and vocalists: Roger Hodgson and Rick Davis. Despite an active touring life and the recording of seven albums, the two musicians never got along, and at the end of their joint creative path, they completely stopped communicating. This is a story about how common interests and understanding of each other's importance for a common cause can outweigh different social backgrounds, views and even musical visions for a long time. 0:00 INTRO 1:24 Rick Davis' first steps 3:19 Davis and Hodgson meet 8:15 The band assembles its golden lineup 12:21 The secret of Supertramp's success 14:42 What crisis? 18:02 Moving to the USA and a new album 21:39 The band's main album 26:52 The subsequent successful tour and breakup 32:11 Supertramp in the 80s without Hodgson 36:35 The band's latest albums 40:28 OUTRO COUNTERPOINT on Telegram: https://t.me/cntrpunto Instagram channel host: / gaetanodon Jazz playlist of the channel author: / all-jazz #COUNTERPOINT #Supertramp
