Sunday sermon from Psalm 142 [142] 1-7 & from the first letter to Thessalonians 1 [1] 1-10, on 09/01/2024, speaker Sotiris Stergios ---------- ---------------------------------- Excerpts from Scripture: Psalm 142 [142] 1-7 1) "Mashil of David; prayer when he was in the cave." With my voice I cried to the Lord; with my voice to the Lord they were bound. 2) I want to pour out my prayer before him; I will recite my sorrow before him. 3) When my spirit was depressed within me, then you knew my way. They have laid a snare for me in the way they walk. 4) They looked to the right and observed, and there was no one who knew me; refuge was lost from me, there was no one who sought my soul. 5) To you, Lord, I cried, and said, you are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living. 6) Pay attention to my voice, for I suffer greatly; deliver me from my persecutors, for they are stronger than me. 7) Bring my soul out of prison, that I may glorify your name. The righteous will surround me when you reward me. ------------------------- 1 Thessalonians 1 [1] 1-10 1 1) Paul and Siluanus and Timothy to the church of the Thessalonians in God, to the Father and Lord Jesus Christ; grace be unto you and peace from God our Father and Lord Jesus Christ. 2) We always thank God for everything about you and remember you in our prayers, 3) constantly remembering your work of faith and the labor of love and the patience of hope of our Lord Jesus Christ before God and our Father, 4 ) finding out, brothers beloved by God, your election, 5) because our gospel was not made to you in word only, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and in much information, as you find out who we were among you for you. 6) And you become imitators of us and of the Lord, having received the word in the midst of much tribulation with the joy of the Holy Spirit, 7) so that you may become types to all those who believe in Macedonia and Achaia. 8) Because from you the word of the Lord was proclaimed not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also everywhere the fame of your faith reached God, so that we did not need to shout anything. 9) For they tell of us what entrance we received to you, and how you turned to God from idols, to serve the living and true God, 10) and to worship his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, the Jesus, who delivers us from the wrath to come. --------------------------------------------- Amen
