Hello, today's film is from the early days of my filmmaking. So please forgive me if the recordings don't quite match the usual standard on my channel. I wasn't using a tripod back then, which is another reason to try out the stabilization function on yt. Edit: that didn't work at all, so I'm removing the stabilization again. One train has strong swaying movements, so my original recording is calmer. In the summer of 1996, I went to Gera to look at the traffic there. I recorded a few trains, including an Interregio on the Central Germany connection that was still running with 229. I even got a shunting locomotive from the 312 series in front of my lens. I added two bonuses this time to make the most of the length of the film: at the Gotha east curve, I recorded two trains on the Erfurt - Eichenberg RE line (today the RE1 Thuringia Göttingen - Zwickau). These trains used the bypass curve and therefore did not come into Gotha Central Station, which ended in 1998 with the use of 219 push-pull trains. The high number of 229s damaged meant that the Eichenberg train came with a 232. The second bonus is a real Ludmilla concert in Suhl. While waiting for a Friedbergbahn train, a special Müller train arrived in Suhl and crossed with the oncoming Interregio Rennsteig (at that time still running from Berlin to Würzburg). I have never recorded such a loud Ludmilla again, but here you can get a good idea of how these locomotives sounded back then with their original sound volume. I hope you like these old recordings too. Have fun! LG Torsten
