The A 20 was the largest transport project in the eastern states of Germany after reunification. The motorway stretches over 345 kilometers and connects Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania with the Polish coast and the Baltic States. DEGES, responsible for the project, has not only mastered construction challenges, but has also implemented a large number of ecological compensation measures on over 5,000 hectares. Their implementation is almost complete. The projects include, for example, a newly planted mixed forest near Cammin, the renaturation of the Rodde polder and the restoration of the Richtenberger Lake. Measures such as these contribute to the creation of sustainable ecosystems and make the renaturation a long-term success. © TIME:CODE:MEDIA GmbH
