Studying mechanical engineering: Mission Impossible? Apparently, mechanical engineering is one of the most difficult courses of study there is. Lots of math and physics, and many people drop out in the first semesters. Thomas has persevered and is already in his 7th semester. He says: "Mechanical engineering is doable!" and advises students as a tutor who are in their first semesters and sometimes don't know what to do next. Before studying, Thomas trained as a mechatronics engineer and is benefiting from his practical experience in the current semester project. Together with his fellow student, he is building charging stations that are intended to simulate the power supply of a household of the future. Such projects are very forward-looking and are therefore particularly fun for Thomas. Thomas likes the fact that he can work in many areas as a mechanical engineer. He says that mechanical engineering is actually involved in everything - from bicycles to escalators to cranes on construction sites.
