We discovered the story of a disappeared village, transformed into a Bucharest neighborhood in the late 1960s, a story that few people know today. It remained the almost exclusive secret of the Bulgarian Catholic families who founded the village of Cioplea more than 200 years ago, on the site where the Titan-Balta Albă-Dristor neighborhoods are located today. Without a doubt, what has always defined the community in the former village was not so much the ethnicity or Bulgarianness of the inhabitants, but especially their Catholic religion. The point of cohesion that allowed the community to exist even today, despite the almost total disappearance of the village of Cioplea, was the church.
