In recent years, Daniel has led animals to pasture in the mountains of Trentino, through peaks and valleys that have long been inhabited by wolves and bears, sometimes in very challenging high-altitude contexts. He has recently begun to form and grow his flock and wanted to tell us about his experience accompanied by his magnificent Sila Shepherds, faithful guard dogs originally from southern Italy. A story that invites dialogue and collaboration between all parties involved in the difficult puzzle of coexistence between man and large carnivores. For this we thank him in particular, but above all we take this opportunity to reiterate once again how coexistence with large predators in the area is something to be built over time, which requires many sacrifices, but which can allow everyone to carry out their work safely and with respect for the surrounding environment. During this journey, carried out within the project “The Coexistence Fund - The fund for coexistence” we also met other breeders and during the next few weeks we will tell you their stories, all united by a great passion for a job that, from our point of view, is even more beautiful when it is carried out in harmony with all the elements of the ecosystem.
