In the summer of 1979, I traveled to Poland with Mag. Halfar from the ÖGEG and filmed the many steam locomotives that still exist there. Officially, photography and filming were not allowed, but we were given permission in a boiler house. Not only were the new locomotives (built after 1945) on display, but we also got a glimpse of wartime locomotives from the 42 and 52 series. But the most interesting were the Prussian P 8s, a few of which were still in regular service! The railway museum in Warsaw was also worth a visit; we were particularly taken with the streamlined DRB 03.
