Before, I would never have thought of wasting a single thought on gaming on a PC. Because I was a console gamer through and through and, as a non-technical person, I found PC gaming to be too time-consuming because you have to install one launcher after the other, find the right settings and also struggle with crashes and Windows itself. However, there is one device that completely changed my mind about PC gaming and which broke this block in my head once and for all. The Steam Deck! I've had my Steam Deck since April this year and would like to write a short report on my experience. There are plenty of reviews with the relevant specs on the internet, so I'd like to report from the perspective of someone who isn't very tech-savvy. But why did I want a Steam Deck in the first place? I have an Xbox Series X and a PS5 at home anyway, and the kids have a Switch, which I sometimes use. I was keen on the idea of playing games on a handheld that I can normally only play on the console, such as Witcher 3, GTA4 or 5, Skyrim or Fallout, etc. And since my consoles are in the living room, I often have to forego playing when the family wants to watch TV. I chose the 512GB OLED version because it was the smallest OLED version and I knew that I would still upgrade the storage myself because I like to have my games on the hard drive (most of them anyway) and like to switch back and forth. There are lots of instructions online about this and the installation is supposed to be child's play... Spoiler, the installation was definitely not that easy but more on that later. Ordered directly from Steam, the console arrived after a short time and my first impression when unpacking the Steam Deck was "wow, this thing is huge"! To be honest, I was a bit put off by the size because compared to the Switch, the thing just looks clunky but to my surprise, it sits much better in the hand and even longer sessions are much more comfortable on the Steam Deck than on the Switch. What I have with both handhelds, however, is that my little finger goes numb after a while and I have to shake it a bit to wake it up again :) Do you have the same problem or not, or do you have a tip for it? Head over to the comments and if you like the content, you can also leave a like and a subscription, I would be very happy about it. After the short setup process, it was there, the real star of the Steam Deck in my opinion, Steam OS!! I fell in love with this operating system from minute one and I have to say that I just love the design because it reminds me of the simple operating system on a television, e.g. Android TV, where all the content is displayed in a nice, large and clear way. I haven't had many Steam games up to now, as I didn't have a gaming PC, but rather notebooks where gaming was more or less difficult. But I also noticed that there were a lot of sales on Steam and I had bought one or two games like GTA4, Skyrim or Alan Wake and never played them. Then I kept taking advantage of the free games from Epic Games and there were some great ones like GTA5, Tomb Raider or Alien Isolation. I've just noticed that I already have 90 games on Epic and I don't know if I've ever paid for one...Thanks for that. But we have the Steam Deck here and the easiest way to buy Steam games is to download them from the shop and start playing straight away. And in the vast majority of cases it works exactly as described. Buy-download-play. No nerve-racking graphics adjustments, no Windows that can crash, no minimum requirements that have to be met because you can see in advance whether the game is verified. And even the non-verified games mostly run without problems. It's PC gaming with console experience. A real game changer for me! But what I liked most, especially as a player who likes to play single-player games, is the fact that you can put the console into sleep mode in the middle of the game with the power button and continue exactly where you left off. Really without restrictions. It's so simple and ingenious at the same time and a convenience that I don't want to do without anymore..... #steamdeckoled #steamdeck #steamdeckgaming
