From my experience, I believe that for the city, for riding on sidewalks, high speeds are not needed, from 25 to 30 km per hour is more than enough, rather, traction and dynamics of speed gain in combination with a large power reserve are important. And the switch will allow you to ride on the roads at speeds from 40 to 50 km per hour. I see only advantages in this solution, compared to motor wheels. The main advantage is that riding on a belt with coasting on a synchronous motor controlled by a sine wave is much more comfortable due to the fact that the motor is not in the wheel, which means the rear wheel can be light and sprung. Much more economical due to coasting, quieter and softer. Listen to the noise on the asphalt from this bike, it is almost inaudible, despite the fact that the controller in this experiment is not sinusoidal. Well, the most attractive thing in this scheme is that it is simple and budget. The price of a gyro scooter motor is no more than 1000 rubles. Of the minuses is the appearance, it is difficult to make a bicycle beautiful using a belt, but this is different for everyone. There is already experience of operating this, the scheme described above in courier mode in Moscow, on a 24 mm motor in a star, the power reserve is 70 km on a 13s8r battery with a capacity of 24 ampere hours without the help of pedals. Yes, on a 250-350 watt gear motor it will be possible to drive all 100, but I also consider this result good.
