Hey, in the latest episode of the Post-war series, I present the places of suffering of thousands of Poles after World War II. In 1944, another deportation of our compatriots to the East began. Stalin ordered the elimination of all those who might pose a threat to the new communist government in Poland. At that time, the Home Army was conducting operations related to Operation Burza, the aim of which was to liberate the territories of the Second Polish Republic before the Red Army entered them. Unfortunately, this was not possible everywhere, which is why the Home Army sometimes had to cooperate with the Soviets by liberating Polish cities and towns. However, instead of gratitude, the Poles did not receive a reward. In accordance with orders from Moscow, Polish units began to be disarmed, and their people were sent to prisons and prisoner of war camps.
