St. Peter-Ording can be reached from Husum with the regional train RB 64, which runs daily on this section of the route. St. Peter-Ording is a municipality in the district of North Frisia in Schleswig-Holstein and is the only seaside resort to have its own sulphur spring, which is why it is also known as the North Sea health and sulphur spa. Based on the number of overnight stays, Sankt Peter-Ording is the leading seaside resort in Schleswig-Holstein and is visited by many tourists. A characteristic feature of Sankt Peter-Ording is the subsequently planted forest. The municipality of Sankt Peter-Ording has the four districts of Böhl, Bad, Dorf (south) and Ording. Brösum is also occasionally counted as a district. The Bad district is the centre. There is a lot going on here and something for everyone. There is a wellness offer, you can go shopping, there are snack bars and bars, restaurants, culinary delights and events. The highlights of the district include the Dünentherme, the pier, the Dünen-Hus and the adventure promenade. From the adventure promenade there is a wonderful view over the salt marshes and dunes, all the way to the beach, which is around twelve kilometres long and up to two kilometres wide. As on the entire North Sea coast, tourism began in the early 19th century. In 1838, the first bather was recorded in St. Peter, which had been very poor until then. The number of summer visitors quickly increased, so that in 1877 the first hotel opened in the dunes between St. Peter and Ording. At the end of the 19th century the number of guests was so large that the first buildings were built on the beach. However, these buildings had to be protected from flooding in the tidal area, so the first stilt construction was built in 1911. At that time the stilt houses were still called "Gift-bude" (poison booth), which comes from the Low German "dor gift dat wat" - there is something to buy there. There are usually crab boats on the North Sea fishing for crabs. Now we're off to Bad St. Peter Süd. There are two train stations operated by the DB, Bad St Peter Süd and Bad St Peter-Ording. This route is served by the SH regional train service, which runs hourly in both directions from early in the morning until around midnight. We have now arrived in Bad St.Peter Süd. We are now heading to the Böhler lighthouse. The lighthouse is a round, reddish-brown brick tower on the sea dike with a total height of 18.4 meters. The landmark of the Böhl district was built in 1892 as a daytime visual aid. In 1914 it received its lantern. This has a range of up to 16 nautical miles. It is always a wonderful experience to visit the Seekiste St. Peter Ording. Not only the walk to the restaurant itself across the salt marshes is wonderfully relaxing. A little further away from the Seekistee is the beach hut Axels Restaurant. Now it is on to Westerhever to the Westerheversand lighthouse. The 40 meter high Westerheversand lighthouse stands on a mound in front of the town of Westerhever. The lighthouse is the landmark of the Eiderstedt peninsula in Schleswig-Holstein. The range of the light is around 21 nautical miles. There is a national park station at the lighthouse.
