About :

How did the Finnish Defence Forces and Finnish society survive the last year of the Continuation War in 1944? What was the readiness of the different branches of defence and how did they survive the decisive battles for our independence? These topics will be discussed by PhD, Professor of Military History Petteri Jouko, PhD, Docent of the History of Naval Warfare at the Finnish Academy of Military Sciences Juuso Säämänen, and Doctor of Military Sciences, Docent of the History of Air Warfare at the Finnish Academy of Military Sciences Jussi Pajunen. The discussion will be led by Associate Professor Mikko Karjalainen. The previous parts of the discussion series on the years 1941, 1942 and 1943 of the Continuation War have reached a wide audience. The discussion on the year 1944 took place on 9 October 2024 at the House of Science in Helsinki.
