About :

35 years ago, one of the greatest construction projects in Serbia was carried out. At that time, a central dome weighing 4,000 tons was erected on the Temple of Saint Sava, at a height of 40 meters. Until then, a similar feat had not been performed anywhere in the world. The job was supposed to be entrusted to an American-Swedish company, but our experts from the First Five-Year Plan rebelled and said: "Why should we give so much money to foreigners, we will do it ourselves." They also had no experience with such a load, but they believed in themselves, first of all, engineers Tomislav Cvetković, who was in charge of hydraulics, and Strahinja Golubović, who was a designer for automation and electronics. With their help, hydraulic cranes were constructed, manufactured in the First Five-Year Plan, and in 22 days the main dome was erected on the Temple of Saint Sava. The event was followed by hundreds of engineers from the country and the world, and was broadcast by several television stations from Europe. The second story in the new edition of Kvadratura krug tells about the oldest Serbian legal act, the Zakonopravil or Nomocanon of Saint Sava, which after eight centuries has been translated in its entirety into modern Serbian for the first time. This painstaking work, which involved knowledge of Latin, Greek, Serbo-Slavic, law and church canons, was undertaken more than half a century ago by Prof. Dr. Miodrag Petrović, a theologian and lawyer by education, who received his doctorate in canon law in Athens. The Zakonopravil of Saint Sava regulated not only church life but all areas of life, especially the social sphere. It was practically the first constitution of the Nemanjićs, but also the first church constitution used by both the Russian and Bulgarian Orthodox Churches. Ljubomir Turukalo was the first to combine a phototype edition of the Zakonopravil in Serbo-Slavic and modern Serbian, graphically designed it and bound it in the finest leather. As such, it first appeared at the Belgrade Book Fair in 2023.
