With a big event-concert, the Central Committee of the KKE honored Costas Varnalis, the founder of revolutionary art in our country, on the occasion of the completion of 140 years since his birth, 50 years since his death and 65 years since he was awarded the "Lenin Prize" ». The event was attended by a large delegation of the Central Committee of the KKE, led by its General Secretary Dimitris Koutsoubas. Today's music-narrative event is part of the cultural events of the KE of our party in view of its scientific conference entitled "Literature in the years of the storm (1940-1950)" which will take place on December 21 and 22, 2024 in Perissos. It was preceded by the theatrical performance "The Magical Mountains" and followed on December 14 by the concert with songs by Manos Hadjidakis from the 1940s-1950s, with performers Vassilis Gisdakis, Manolis Mitsias, Natassa Bofiliou and Maria Farandouri. In the foyer of the hall is hosted an exhibition of visual works of the period, from the Gallery of the KKE. The revolutionary speech of the "grandfather of popular struggles", as the other great communist poet Yiannis Ritsos had called him, resonated loudly in the Conference Hall of the KE of the KKE. Through texts, poems, articles and vignettes by Kostas Varnalis, the audience that overwhelmed the Hall became the recipient of the speech of one of the leading personalities of our letters. The texts were recited by actors Eleni Gerasimidou and Yiannis Geramazidis. The pieces set to music were performed by Kostas Thomaidis, Alexandros Kapsokavadis, Polyxeni Karakoglou and Kostas Triantafyllidis. The musicians Giorgos Katsikas, Mimis Doutsoulis, Evangelia Mavridou, Marinos Galatsinos, Nikos Samaras, Vassiliki Mazarakis and Yiannis Papazachariakis, who also did the orchestrations, performed.
