At the celebration of 40 years of official recognition of Buddhism in Austria, which took place in Vienna at the beginning of March, guest of honour Chigan-kutsu Kyō-on Dokurō Roland Jäckel, Rōshi gave the keynote speech entitled "Living Responsibility - a Personal Path of Practice in the Dharma". Chigan Dokuro Roland Jäckel, Rōshi was born in Innsbruck. At a young age he actively sought out Buddhist teachings and practice and became a member in 1983, the first year the ÖBR was founded. He has lived in the USA for over 30 years, where in addition to his spiritual duties as a Zen teacher, he also works as a computer scientist and vice dean at Boston University.
