The last summer of the Heisei era, a super-sized "double" scale release! Original story: Hideaki Sorachi × Screenplay/Director: Yuichi Fukuda × Starring: Shun Oguri A hybrid blockbuster of "Shinsengumi Rebellion Arc" and "Shogun Entertainment Arc"! The hottest, funniest, and most invincible action entertainment in the history of "Gintama"! It's the end of the Edo period...Earthlings and aliens, Amanto, live together in Kabukicho, Edo. One day, Gintoki, Shinpachi, and Kagura of "Yorozuya", who are out of work and short of money and can't even pay their rent, are asked by the manager of the cabaret club "Smile" to entertain a "big shot of the shogunate". However, that "big shot" is the Shogun of the time, Tokugawa Shigeshige! At the same time, the vice-chief of the Shinsengumi demons, Hijikata, is surrounded by anti-foreign samurai. Hijikata tries to draw his sword... but for some reason his body moves on its own, and before he knows it, he is kneeling! Suddenly, a second personality appears, an Akiba-style otaku named "Tosshi."
