The dancing of the geisha and maiko from Kyoto's Five Flower Districts (Gion Kobu, Miyagawacho, Pontocho, Kamishichiken, Gion Higashi) was wonderful, but I was particularly captivated by the beauty of the older geiko while taking photos (On the day, I took the Shinkansen from Kyoto to Tokyo Station and then a bus to Roppongi Hills Arena, and without any rehearsal or checking their positioning on stage, the 20 maiko danced, and the Kamishichiken Night Song and Miyagawa Ondo dances by 14 geiko and maiko were truly professional dancers). Incidentally, among the maiko who came from Gion Kobu, the one on the far left as you face the stage in Gion Kobu in the opening scene could be the maiko I photographed on the 9th of February this year while waiting for the traffic light at the crosswalk on Shijo Street coming out of Hanamikoji Street, because the way she was holding her furoshiki was so impressive...
