With an average altitude of 800 m, the Millevaches plateau is a large granite area on the edge of the Massif Central. This region is sometimes nicknamed "the water tower of France". It must be said that there are an impressive number of lakes, rivers, but also peat bogs. It is in one of them, the Longeyroux peat bog, the largest in Limousin, that we meet Lise Rolland and Fabrice Merhand. Fabrice and Lise, it's a beautiful story written around a shared passion: life in the great outdoors! Two years ago they took over a farm on the plateau and this flock of 300 sheep. He is Breton, a purebred sheep farmer. She is half Corsican, half Aveyron. An agricultural engineer, she chose to swap her computer mouse for her sheepdog in order to live an adventure together on the Millevaches plateau. That of pastoralism. They are the heirs of this very old tradition which makes the most of the land and pastures by taking into account seasonal cycles and climatic constraints. Transhumance, which consists of taking herds to the mountains to free up the lower lands in order to harvest hay and store it for the winter, is the keystone of pastoralism. We understand why the Conservatoire des Espaces Naturels and the Parc Régional de Millevaches support their activity. With Marie-Caroline Mahé, project manager at the Conservatoire Régional des Espaces Naturels du Limousin, we discover that these peat bogs are rare places in France. As fragile as they are exceptional. The Millevaches plateau is the dream terrain for adventure lovers. The one that Florent Cales, instructor at the Eymoutiers canoe-kayak club, and nature guide is going to share with Éric is to be classified in the sporting category! The descent of the Maulde is a succession of emotions. After the calm, the rapids and then the grand finale: the arrival in Lake Vassivière. If Vassivière has become a must-see place in New Aquitaine, it is of course for its beaches, its landscapes, its nature. But not only that. There is indeed a unique contemporary art space there. The International Center for Art and Landscape, created in 1991. Here you can discover in the heart of nature works by renowned artists specializing in Land Art. Born in the desert landscapes of the American West at the end of the 60s, this current of contemporary art consists of using materials from nature. Wood, earth, stones… Most often the works are created outdoors. Marc Pouyet is one of those artists for whom nature is not only an object of representation. But is at the heart of creation itself. We end our escapades with Amandine Dewaele. Nature guide, she specializes in cooking based on wild harvesting. #capsudouest All the news in Nouvelle-Aquitaine ► http://france3-regions.francetvinfo.f...
