Located mainly in the Tarn department, spilling over into those of Aveyron and Hérault, the Monts de Lacaune constitute the southern extremity of the Massif Central. A somewhat isolated area, marked by wild landscapes, an atypical climate where the mildness of Mediterranean influences mixes with the harshness of the heights. A country that is unjustly overlooked. Because it is here that we find the largest concentration in Europe of menhir statues, astonishing megaliths sculpted more than 5000 years ago. With Christian Servelle, an archaeologist, we set off to discover an archaeological enigma: the oldest large-scale human representations of man known in Western Europe. The Lacaunais offers wide open spaces. With Thierry Jalbaud, a mountain bike instructor, we take an old railway line converted into a cycle path. But Thierry is more than an athlete. He is also a man of heart with a goal: to allow everyone to enjoy the place. This is why he set up FTT, All-Terrain Armchairs here to allow the disabled to share with the able-bodied the joys of a walk in the great outdoors. It is in a secret corner that we find Gilles Fabre. And for good reason, it is his mushroom corner! Then we discover the secret of the family dairy, an improbable place of ripening hidden in an old railway tunnel. It is impossible to come here without meeting the star of the country: the famous Lacaune sheep. Roquefort, one of the most famous French cheeses in the world, is produced exclusively with the milk of this breed that was born in the 19th century in this country. On Monique Cabane's farm, they have dedicated their lives to this sheep that in the fall requires a lot of attention.
