Welcome to Pompadour, in Corrèze. This town of 1,200 inhabitants is nicknamed the City of Horses! Olivier Legouis, the director of the Haras national de Pompadour, tells Eric the story of this place, entirely dedicated to horses. It was in the 18th century that the destiny of Corrèze changed thanks to a story of love and power. King Louis XV donated the Château de Pompadour to his favorite to ennoble her, a certain Jeanne-Antoinette Poisson, who then became the famous Marquise de Pompadour. Erici visits the Chignac breeding farm, a few hundred meters from the castle, a unique site, since it is the only National Jumenterie. Pompadour is the cradle of the Anglo-Arab breed, horses renowned for sporting competition. The estate also has very beautiful stables and a racecourse, created in 1836, today known throughout the world. Corrèze has therefore been a land of choice for horse and riding enthusiasts for several centuries. All horse lovers pass through there one day. And sometimes, decide to settle there. This is the case of Clémentine Caupert. The young woman, originally from Toulon, arrived in Corrèze a few years ago, as an equestrian artist. Today, she has her own equestrian center. Man and horse, it's a long, very long history in common. It was one of the first animals to be domesticated. Transport, agriculture, not to mention war, it has provided many services to men. In recent years, we have discovered that this animal can also help in the treatment of certain illnesses.
