The guest of the WORLD podcast was traveler and guide Matej Peluha, who shared his fresh experiences from a trip to the newest state in the world - South Sudan. The country, where the war has stopped after more than 70 years, certainly cannot be said to be ready for tourists. After all, only humanitarian workers have traveled here in recent years, who have become targets of local attacks. However, Matej did not spend so much time in the cities, preferring to go into the wilderness to visit the tribes. Compared to other African countries, where tribal life is only an open-air museum for tourists, South Sudan provides pure authenticity. Matej first visited the Dinka tribe in the remote swamps and then headed for the very specific Mundari tribe. Its members live for two things - cattle and wrestling. Cows are their property, currency, they give them as dowry, they wash themselves with cow's urine and drink cow's milk directly from the udder. As Matej says in the podcast, the time spent with the tribe is unique in that you only need to observe life as it happens. Such fascinating experiences are difficult to repeat anywhere else in the world. You can learn more about South Sudan, its high population and perhaps the Arab influence in the country in the entire podcast. We wish you a pleasant listening experience!
