“Let’s repair with agriculture, from healthy soils to resilient communities” With our grant support, the Soil for Life Association is implementing the Let’s Repair with Agriculture: From Healthy Soils to Resilient Communities project with the aim of developing regional resilience covering the ecological, economic and social transformation of disaster areas. Within the scope of the project to be carried out in the İslahiye district of Gaziantep, which was determined as the pilot region, a four-day face-to-face training was organized for farmers in July, August and September in order to implement regenerative agriculture methods that protect the biodiversity, soil and water resources of the region and reduce the need for agricultural input in the medium-long term. “Göze Liderler” will be selected, who will follow regenerative agriculture and related practices locally, make decisions appropriate to land conditions and manage processes, and also have in-depth knowledge of local dynamics. 18-hour face-to-face training programs will be carried out for these individuals. The association, which will develop a farmer-to-farmer learning model in order to disseminate regenerative agriculture practices, will design an application in the pilot land to be determined during the field exploration phase and trainings and will form the basis for the learning model. It will organize 18 hours of water management training for local people to combat drought in the region. It will provide training on composting, growing their own food, and home-scale regenerative farming methods, especially for women migrating from rural areas. It will organize permaculture workshops for 120 children to support children’s well-being and increase their resilience in the face of crises, especially the climate crisis. The Soil for Life Association is hiring a full-time Project Coordinator and Project Assistant as part of the grant.
