Smiling Eyes is a 1977 Turkish drama-comedy film directed by Ertem Eğilmez and starring Münir Özkul, Adile Naşit, Şener Şen, Müjde Ar, Ayşen Gruda and Itır Esen. Yaşar Usta (Münir Özkul) lives in Istanbul with his wife Nezaket (Adile Naşit) and five adult daughters. Yaşar Usta gave male names to all of his daughters expecting to have a boy. He works hard to provide for his large family and works as a joiner for the construction of his old friend Yunus, who has become rich with his stinginess and deceit. Unaware of the dynamic romantic relationships between his daughters, he wants to find suitable fortunes for them. Vecihi (Şener Şen), who is in love with his eldest daughter Fikret (Ayşen Gruda), constantly knocks on his door, but he resists giving his daughter to her. Hikmet is the favorite of the apprentices downstairs in the house; He spends all his time playing games with them. His most beloved daughter İsmet (Müjde Ar) marries Yunus's son Temel (Mahmut Hekimoğlu); however, Temel is disowned because of this marriage that is not approved by his father. All the money for the wedding goes to poor Yaşar Usta. Vecihi continues to want Fikret and is rejected, and occasionally flies over the house with his plane. Nedret (Itır Esen), who is the favorite of her mother Nezaket, wants to marry the young man she loves like her sister; however, her lover is still a university student. In order to prevent Yaşar Usta from opposing the marriage, they introduce this young man to him as a rich engineer. However, the family that has just got married has no money. Nezaket mortgages the house they live in without Yaşar Usta's knowledge for her daughter's wedding and borrows money from the contractor Yunus; however, she cannot pay this debt after the wedding. Although the young people in the house try to earn money by making soap powder in the attic, their dreams end in disappointment. Yunus ruthlessly demands his money. When Yaşar Usta learns the truth, he gets very upset. Just as they are about to leave their house because of the mortgage, the apartments in the site that Yunus has constantly stolen materials to build collapse and many workers are injured. Yunus, who has gone bankrupt, also comes to Yaşar Usta. Despite all his badness, Yaşar Usta embraces him. At the end of the movie, Yaşar Usta is happy that his family's problems are solved despite the difficulties they have experienced and in this moment of happiness, he gives Vecihi, who has been flying over the house with the plane he has been flying over, permission to marry Fikret.
