In 1998, he recorded a solo CD, called Serrano Cantor, for the USA Discos label in Porto Alegre. With his ensemble OS SERRANOS, he won three gold records, with over one hundred thousand copies sold each. William Hengen Accordion and Vocals Stage Name: William de Campos Hengen Date of Birth: June 17, 1991 Hometown: Sapiranga/RS Release From an early age, he showed interest in the accordion, as well as regionalist music from Rio Grande do Sul; all of this was influenced by his grandfather Edgar who, despite not playing any instrument, is a great connoisseur and admirer of the work of the Bertussi Brothers, Gildo de Freitas, Teixeirinha, Os Mirins, Os Serranos, Os Monarcas, José Mendes, and other important artists of his time. He grew up listening to and assimilating all of this repertoire until he was 9 years old. At this age, he began studying the accordion with his friend Ildo Nadale, receiving his first information and guidance on the instrument. Two years later, eager to learn more, he began attending practical classes with Professor Vladimir Silva. He even studied a little bit of music theory and solfeggio with Professor Fernando Bernardi. He began performing at the gatherings of the CTGs in his city; he participated in several harmonica and vocal performance competitions at rodeos held in RS. In these events, he won many awards: such as the two-time championship at the Gravataí International Rodeo; two-time championship at the Porto Alegre International Rodeo, the latter in a single category (all ages). At the age of 12, he met Professor Adavilson Wollmann, and resumed his musical studies, which, in his opinion, changed his view of the accordion. With the new teacher, who also gave dynamic practical classes, he began to play important works by Albino Manique, Edson Dutra, Paulo Siqueira and Régis Marques. From then on, he was invited by the teacher to travel and rehearse with the group he was part of, Locomotiva Campeira, from Campo Bom. He played his first dance on October 12, 2003, when he was 14 years old, replacing the teacher when he went to live in São Paulo.
