I am doing a mega refining of silver contacts. I managed to collect various contacts, both magnetic and non-magnetic, in fairly large quantities, and I decided to extract pure silver from them. Before starting the refining, you need to separate the contacts, magnetic ones separately, and non-magnetic ones also separately, since they will have to be dissolved separately due to their different composition. Magnetic contacts contain about 60 percent silver, non-magnetic ones contain 80 percent or even more silver, up to 90%. Also, in addition to silver, non-magnetic contacts contain graphite, which greatly interferes with the refining process, since contacts need to be crushed for better dissolution, and graphite dirt interferes with filtration. Magnetic contacts, in turn, contain copper or copper oxide, which requires a lot of nitric acid to dissolve; much more acid is needed to dissolve this type of contact than to dissolve non-magnetic contacts. Also, when a large number of contacts are dissolved, quite a lot of debris is formed, which makes it difficult to filter the solution. As a result of the mega refining, it turned out that working with a large amount of material is quite difficult, since large volumes of dishes are required and in general the amount of work is very large, but still the refining of silver contacts and the extraction of pure silver from technical silver was completed and a decent result was obtained. In general, I am approaching the moment when I will collect silver for casting a silver hammer. I hope the video about mega silver extraction from magnetic and non-magnetic contacts will be interesting and informative, will bring practical benefit to someone. Enjoy watching everyone.
