Sigismund I of Luxembourg (15 February 1368 – 9 December 1437) – Elector of Brandenburg from 1378 to 1388 and from 1411 to 1415, King of Hungary from 1387 (one of the longest-reigning Hungarian kings), King of Germany (King of the Romans) from 20 September 1410; King of Bohemia from 16 August 1419 to 7 June 1421 (coronation on 28 July 1420 (1st time), from 16 August 1436 (2nd time); King of Lombardy from 25 November 1431, Holy Roman Emperor from 3 May 1433 – was the last emperor from the House of Luxembourg. Sigismund was one of the driving forces behind the Council of Constance, which ended the papal schism, but another consequence of which was the Hussite wars that dominated his life in the following period.
