Southern Siberia is the terra incognita of the Asian part of Russia. Mountain ranges and picturesque valleys, dense taiga and endless steppes - all these lands are difficult to access and still poorly studied. Although the Mongolian, Chinese and Russian empires have fought for their possession for a long time. One of the main and mysterious ranges of this land is the Western Sayan. It stretches for more than 600 kilometers - on the territory of today's Krasnoyarsk Territory, Khakassia and Tuva. Although several centuries ago it was here that Russia bordered China. In the 17th century, the foothills of Sayan began to be populated by Cossacks - to develop the lands and protect the borders. But to this day, maps of the southern part of Khakassia are full of blank spots. The state has neither the desire nor the money to fill them. So now this is done by amateur enthusiasts.
