Amer bin Tufail was a brave knight, famous for his strength, bravery and horse riding. Amer reached a level of arrogance that no one else had reached, as he came to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, with Arbad, the brother of Labid, agreeing to betray him. When Arbad failed to stab the Prophet, Amer bargained with him to convert to Islam on the condition that he would share power with him. When the Prophet denied this, he turned away threateningly, but death overtook him on his way back from the plague, and his friend Arbad was struck by lightning and killed.
