The "Open" show on News24 discussed the parliamentary elections of May 11, 2025, as well as the role of new parties that will compete in these elections. In the upcoming elections, the diaspora will be given the opportunity to vote in the elections for the first time, while the opposition spectrum has not yet been able to unite against a majority that will compete for the 4th government mandate. New or small parties, which may appear alone in the elections, can be considered as the opposition of the opposition, at least by representatives of the Democratic Party. But how much can the appearance alone in the elections of new parties and those considered small affect the fragmentation of the vote? MP Agron Shehaj from the Mundësia party states that he has not heard from any of the leaders of the Democratic Party that his political force is the opposition of the opposition. Shehaj said she will run alone in the parliamentary elections, emphasizing that Albania will not be harmed by new parties. "I would be worried if new parties were not created. We are in a situation where a part of the electorate does not trust the old parties. The DP suffers more because it is in opposition, while the SP suffers less, because being in power it has the opportunity to keep the dissatisfied closer," said Shehaj.
