TRIGGER WARNING: In this video we talk about sexual violence. If you don't feel comfortable with this topic, please don't watch the video alone. When Emma was twelve years old, she was sexually abused for the first time by an acquaintance. A terrible and incredibly traumatic experience that she repressed for years. But that's not all: she blamed herself for what happened because that was the easiest answer for her as to why it could happen. Because she couldn't handle the fact that someone could do something so terrible. Emma repressed the rape for a long time - until the depression that resulted from it became too strong and she sought treatment in a clinic. The time there helped her a lot and by the age of 15 she was doing so well that she was even firmly convinced that the perpetrator from back then was sorry and that she should talk to him about it to get an apology... But when the two wanted to meet to talk, the former acquaintance abused Emma again. Emma tried everything to escape the situation - but no chance. Emma then immediately called the helpline and then went to the police to report the crime. Shortly afterwards, Emma learned that he had not only raped her, but that he had already been the perpetrator several times - and had been convicted for it. Emma tells Frank in the video how she is doing today and how she is dealing with her experiences. Why do we let animals suffer? Do we drink too much? Or: What does porn do to us? My team and I are interested in questions that have a direct impact on our lives, but also topics that are important to all of us and are often only discussed superficially. We look for answers to these questions, week after week - openly, honestly and independently. We don't meet experts to do this, we are there: at the slaughterhouse, at the swinger party, while proselytizing in the pedestrian zone. And because we want to get to know as many perspectives as possible in our search, we always spend several weeks thinking about a question. In the end, we want to give an answer, even if that isn't easy for us. With every video - but especially in the discussions with you - we get a little closer to an answer to the big, tricky questions.
