About :

NR-13 - BOILERS, PRESSURE VESSELS, PIPES AND METAL STORAGE TANKS. According to Ordinance 787 of November 27, 2018, NR-13 is classified as a special NR, described as a standard that regulates the execution of work considering the activities, facilities or equipment employed, without being conditioned to specific sectors or economic activities. The objective is to establish minimum requirements for managing the structural integrity of steam boilers, pressure vessels, their interconnecting pipes and metal storage tanks in aspects related to installation, inspection, operation and maintenance, aiming at the safety and health of workers. It is worth remembering that the employer is responsible for adopting and maintaining these minimum requirements. Item 13.2 of the standard shows the equipment to which NR-13 must be applied, including in a very specific way. Therefore, for those who work with NR-13 “under their arm”, this is an item of utmost importance to verify the needs regarding its application. Serious and imminent risk and contact with STRAB Failure to comply with any item provided for in NR-13 constitutes a serious and imminent risk condition. We have heard this term before and NR-3 defines it as any work condition or situation that may cause an accident or illness with serious injury to the worker. In the event of occurrences such as a leak, fire or explosion involving any equipment covered by NR-13 that causes the death of a worker, the need for hospitalization of a worker or large-scale events, the employer must notify the regional office of the Labor Department (STRAB) and the union of the predominant professional category of the establishment. This communication must be sent by the second business day after the occurrence. Throughout the standard, the text addresses, for obvious reasons, specific guidelines regarding boilers, pressure vessels, pipelines and tanks.
