Sewing a New Life: A Mother's Journey Across the Sea to Find a Meaning for Her Children - The Story of Mrs. Hoang Than VHM #LSQCK In the last days of our beloved South Vietnam, the war became brutal, and many soldiers' wives became widows. Sharing the same tragic and cruel situation, Ms. Hoang Than went to receive her husband's body on the front line. Only 26 years old, with two young children, she made constant efforts, overcoming dangerous conditions to survive when the country was changing: How to stay away from the people who took her husband's life? She tried every way to bring her two children to escape to the land of Freedom, then continued to deal with unforeseeable hardships in a completely foreign society. And now, not only has she succeeded, she has also taken care of her children to have a good name. We invite you to learn about the typical personality of a wife of a soldier of the Republic of Vietnam, a widow and a Vietnamese Mother. History Through Storytelling is one of the projects of the Vietnamese Heritage Museum to preserve stories in memory, directly through the stories of those who participated or were witnesses to recent historical events. This project is a research project aimed at collecting, storing and explaining the history of Vietnamese refugees. Vietnamese refugees who survived need the opportunity to directly share specific and emotional experiences they have gone through, or witnessed historical events of the nation, on the path to freedom, as well as the initial difficulties of settling and making a living in a foreign land. This is an opportunity to sympathize and understand each other better among generations of refugees; at the same time, it also creates for future generations to understand, be proud of and be grateful for the sacrifices and courage of their ancestors.
