Paweł Karpiński and his family run the ecological Agroturystyka Złoty Klon in Kijanka on the Zwolenka River, Mazowieckie Province, near Kazimierz Dolny and Janowiec. Originally from the Warsaw area, Paweł and his wife spent seven years in Florida before returning to Poland with their two sons. While in Florida, they were strongly inspired by the book Anastazja The Ringing Cedry of Russia (author Vladimir Megre), and initially planned to start a project similar to an eco-village in Poland. Ultimately, they decided that it would be better to build a house with agrotourism, where they could promote an ecological, healthy lifestyle in nature. They spent seven years building their unique octagonal house (250 m²) from straw, clay, wood and recycled materials, such as bricks from Wrocław, which are over 100 years old. There is also a natural pool on the property which contributes to local biodiversity and a permaculture garden where many volunteers come and help grow healthy food without chemical sprays or artificial fertilizers.
