Tuesday Sermon from the letter to the Romans v' [15] 1-6 & from the Gospel according to Luke 7' [7] 36-50, on 15/10/2024, speaker Kostas Dikaios ---------- ---------------------------------- Excerpts from Scripture: Romans 15 [15] 1-6 1 ) We the strong should let us bear the infirmities of the weak, and not please ourselves. 2) But let each one of us please his neighbor for good for edification; 3) because Christ also did not please himself, but as it is written, The insults of those who insult you fall on me. 4) For the things that were prescribed were prescribed for our instruction, that we might have hope through patience and the consolation of the scriptures. 5) And may the God of patience and consolation grant you to look after one another according to Christ Jesus, 6) so that you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ with one voice. ----------------------------- According to Luke 7 [7] 36-50 36) He begged one of the Pharisees to eat with him; and entering into the house of the Pharisee, he sat down at the table. 37) And behold, a woman in the city, being a sinner, I learned that she was sitting at the table in the Pharisee's house, they brought an alabaster of myrrh 38) and I stood near his feet behind weeping, she began to wet his feet with tears and sponged with her hair her head and anointed his feet and anointed them with myrrh. 39) And when the Pharisee called him, he said to himself, saying: If this man were a prophet, he would want to know who the woman is who touches him, that she is a sinner. 40) And Jesus answered and said to him: Simon, I have something to say to you. He does not say; Master, he said. 41) He had two debtors in debt; one owes you five hundred dinars, and the other fifty. 42) And because they had nothing to repay, he granted these to both. Which of these, he said, will he love more? 43) When Simon answered, he said: I think that he, to whom he gave the most grace. And he said unto him, Thou hast judged rightly. 44) And you turn to the woman, he said to Simon: Do you see this woman? I entered your house, you did not bring water for my feet; she wet my feet with her tears and soaked them with the hairs of her head. 45) You did not give me a kiss, and she, after entering, did not stop kissing my feet. 46) You did not anoint my head with oil, but you anointed my feet with myrrh. 47) For this reason I tell you, her sins are forgiven, and they are many, because she loved a lot; but to others a little is forgiven, she loves a little. 48) And he said to her: Your sins are forgiven. 49) And those sitting together at the table began to say among themselves: Who is this, who also forgives sins? 50) And he said to the woman: Your faith has saved you; rest in peace. ------------------------------ Amen
