Tuesday Sermon by the prophet Haggai 1 [1] 1-15, on 22/10/2024, speaker George Katsoulas ------------------------ ------------------- Excerpts from Scripture: (Acts 1:1) In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, on the first day of the month, it became the word of the Lord through his Haggai prophet to Zerubbabel, the son of Salathiel, the commander of Judah, and to Jesus the son of Josedek, the high priest, saying, (Acts 1:2) Thus says the Lord of hosts, saying, This is what the people say, The time has not come, the time to build the house of the Lord. (Agg. 1:3) And the word of the Lord came through Haggai the prophet, saying, (Agg. 1:4) Is it time for you to dwell in your lofty houses, and this house to be desolate? (Acts 1:5) Now therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts, Consider your ways. (Acts 1:6) You have sown much and breathed in little, you eat and are not satisfied, drink and are not satisfied, clothe yourself and are not warmed, and the hired man is hired by a valedictorian. (Acts 1:7) Thus says the Lord of hosts, Consider your ways. (Agg. 1:8) Go up to the mountain and bring wood and build the house, and I will be pleased in it and I will be glorified, says the Lord. (Acts 1:9) You watched over much, and behold, a little was done; and you brought this into the house, and I blew it away. For what? says the Lord of hosts. Because of my house, which is desolate, while you run every one to his house. (Acts 1:10) Therefore the sky withheld from you its dew and the earth withheld its fruit, (Acts 1:11) and I called a drought on the earth and on the mountains, on the wheat and on the wine and upon the oil and upon all that the earth produces, and upon men and upon the beasts, and upon all the labors of their hands. (Acts 1:12) And Zerubbabel the son of Salathiel and Jesus the son of Josedek, the high priest, and all the rest of the people obeyed the voice of the Lord their God and the words of Haggai the prophet, as he sent the Lord their God: and the people were afraid before the Lord. (Acts 1:13) And Haggai the messenger of the Lord spoke during the announcement of the Lord to the people, saying, I am with you, says the Lord. (Acts 1:14) And the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Salathiel, the governor of Judah, and the spirit of Jesus the son of Josedek, the high priest, and the spirit of all the rest of the people, and they came and working in the house of the Lord of hosts, their God, (Agg. 1:15) on the twenty-fourth day of the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king. ------------------------------ Amen
