Luke 15:11 He continued: A certain man had two sons; 12 the youngest of them said to his father: Father, give me my share of the goods. And he distributed their possessions to them. 13 After not many days had passed, the youngest son, gathering together all that was his, went to a distant land and there he wasted all his possessions, living dissolutely. 14 After he had consumed everything, a great famine came upon that country, and he began to be in need. 15 So he went and joined one of the citizens of that country, and he sent him to his fields to herd pigs. 16 There he wanted to be satisfied with the locust beans that the pigs ate; but no one gave him anything. 17 Then, coming to his senses, he said: How many of my father's workers have plenty of bread, and here I die of hunger! 18 I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you; 19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son; Treat me like one of your workers. 20 And he arose and went to his father. He was still far away, when his father saw him, and, feeling sorry for him, ran, hugged him, and kissed him. 21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and before thee; I am no longer worthy to be called your son. 22 But the father said to his servants, Quickly bring the best clothes, dress him, put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet; 23 Also bring and kill the fatted calf. Let us eat and be merry, 24 because this son of mine was dead and is alive again, he was lost and is found. And they began to rejoice. 25 Now the eldest son had been in the field; and when he was returning, as he approached the house, he heard music and dancing. 26 He called one of the servants and asked him what that was. 27 And he said, Your brother came, and your father killed the fatted calf, because he recovered it healthy. 28 He was indignant and would not go in; However, the father left and tried to reconcile him. 29 But he answered his father: I have served you for so many years without ever transgressing your command, and you never gave me a single goat to make merry with my friends; 30 But when this son of yours, who wasted your wealth with harlots, came, you ordered the fatted calf to be slaughtered for him. 31 Then his father answered him, My son, you are always with me; everything that is mine is yours. 32 However, we had to rejoice and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again, he was lost and is found.
