On Friday evening, August 31, 2018, many visitors came to the shopping center De Ridderhof for a beautiful SER summer evening concert by the shanty choir De IJsselmannen. The IJsselmannen sang from their well-known repertoire of sea shanties and also songs from their new CD 'De Steven Wenden'. For centuries, the skippers from Ouderkerk aan den IJssel have sailed the Hollandsche IJssel. They are called 'De IJsselmannen'. In 2002, the Shanty choir De IJsselmannen was founded and it is one of the largest choirs in our country. The IJsselmannen are known for their pleasure in singing, the varied repertoire and the interaction between choir and audience under the canopy of the shopping center De Ridderhof in Ridderkerk.
