Last summer, in Bremen, nine-year-old Bjarne experienced such an extraordinary adventure. In the midst of his games in the sand, he came across a treasure that amazed the world. What he initially thought was an ordinary object turned out to be a rare Roman silver dinar from the era of Emperor Mark Auriel, which was already over 1800 years old. The Bremen State Archaeology Department confirmed the uniqueness of this find. Last Friday, the young discoverer proudly presented his achievement to the press. The discovery may seem inconspicuous at first glance, but its historical value is incalculable. Such coins, which appear outside the Roman Empire, could indicate that they were given as wages to mercenaries who received Roman coins for their services. Niki Steinmann, a passionate metal detectorist, hoped to get his license for treasure hunting. After an exciting search in a Viking village in Schleswig-Holstein, he finally managed to get this license. He was helped in the search by a metal detector that reacted to electromagnetic signals when it encountered metal. At the end of his test, Niki Steinmann received his long-awaited license and can now officially go treasure hunting.
