Important: This film is about self-harming behavior, suicide, and a fatal cancer. We also show images of severe wounds and scars. Toni was 12 years old when she hurt herself for the first time. And from that day on, it got worse and worse... Her self-harming behavior went so far that doctors put a cast on her hand to protect Toni from herself. Self-harming was an outlet for her. It was one of the ways she tried to cope with the death of her father, who was suffering from cancer. By chance, her friends saw her wounds. Shortly afterwards, her family took her to a clinic where she was supposed to be treated for her self-harm. It was an incredibly difficult time for her, and she tells Frank about it in our video. Frank also spoke to Dr. Johannes Hennings, a specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy. He tells him how to approach people who self-harm and how to gently talk to them about their scars and behavior. The two also talk about therapy options. Why do we let animals suffer? Do we drink too much? Or: What does porn do to us? My team and I are interested in questions that have a direct impact on our lives, but also topics that are important to all of us and are often only discussed superficially. We look for answers to these questions, week after week - openly, honestly and independently. We don't meet experts to do this, we are there: at the slaughterhouse, at the swinger party, while proselytizing in the pedestrian zone. And because we want to get to know as many perspectives as possible in our search, we always spend several weeks thinking about a question. In the end, we want to give an answer, even if that isn't easy for us. With every video - but especially in the discussions with you - we get a little closer to an answer to the big, tricky questions.
