Becoming self-employed - a dream for many. This is also the case for optician Tanja Horst. She took the plunge and opened her own shop in her early 40s. That was a good five years ago and the shop is now doing well. But becoming self-employed wasn't always easy. Self-employed as an optician? How did Tanja get into it? Even as a child, she needed glasses, which she didn't really like. But when a teacher gave her the idea of doing an internship at an optician, Tanja fell in love with the job of optician. She particularly likes the mix of craftsmanship, fashion and little office work. Tanja works holistically, which means that she not only advises her customers on the glasses models, but also keeps an eye on eye health. Tanja has employed two master opticians in her shop and the team now works so well that she works 40 hours a week. But that wasn't always the case: Especially at the beginning, Tanja had to invest a lot of time in her business, which sometimes meant working until 11 p.m. This also put a strain on her relationship at the time. She has now separated from her husband and has been happily in a relationship again for two months. Her health is very important to Tanja. That's why she also hires a personal trainer to prepare for a half marathon. She also lives a vegan lifestyle and invests a lot of time and money in a healthy diet. For "Is it worth it?" she reveals her finances as a master optician and self-employed person in full, with detailed expenses, all costs - and what is left over at the end. Master optician with her own business: Tanja's dream job. That is "Is it worth it?": One person, one job, one life. And at the end of the day, the question: Is it worth it? We accompany people in their profession and show their lives. Is it worth it to work for the salary and use it to finance your own life? What makes me happy about work? We don't just compare salaries, we show how people live from their work. We are always looking for protagonists: If you also want to show how you live with your job, feel free to write to [email protected]! On a personal note: We are not infallible either - and although we make every effort to present every individual financial situation clearly, correctly and understandably, we sometimes need help. The Bavarian State Association of Tax Advisors and Auditors always provides us with competent support - thank you very much for that!
