Anyone who, looking from the outside, is faced with the mystery of the Holy Trinity, mistakenly concludes that we profess faith in a kind of mathematical contradiction, pure and simple: “One God in Three Persons” and “Three Persons in One God”. Those who think this way, in addition to underestimating two thousand years of wise men and saints who embraced Christianity, also reveal themselves to be totally ignorant regarding the Christian faith as a whole, failing to realize that the mystery of the Trinity has direct implications for our spiritual life, being decisive, for example, in understanding how our salvation occurs. This homily was given on June 4, 2023, Solemnity of the Holy Trinity, during the morning Mass at the Cristo Rei Parish, in Várzea Grande (MT).
