This January 28th, the Church celebrates the memory of one of its greatest intellectuals, Saint Thomas Aquinas. Although many propagate a caricatured view of his person, presenting him as a cold theologian and distant from our reality, Saint Thomas developed great and profound reflections on the mysteries of faith and human life itself in its concreteness. This did not occur through mere brilliance, but resulted from a personal experience with the Truth, which can only be achieved through contemplation. This, in turn, is only possible within an orderly life, of someone who knows the true purpose of their existence and has the necessary means to achieve it. This homily was given on January 28, 2023, during morning Mass at the Cristo Rei Parish, in Várzea Grande (MT).
