In times of tribulation, we can often only see pain, misery, and desolation. Our vision is as if obscured by a dense, dark fog, which prevents us from seeing reality as it really is. However, when we have the virtue of faith and nourish it through prayer and meditation, our vision of events becomes more realistic, so that we no longer see things only from a material point of view, but we can see reality as a whole, in its natural and supernatural aspects. Contrary to what many people think, faith is not a “make-believe” that inserts us into a parallel reality, but is an indispensable resource for seeing things as they really are. This homily was given by Father Paulo Ricardo on Monday, March 4, 2024, during Mass at the Cristo Rei Parish in Várzea Grande (MT).
