About :

In the 80s of the 18th century, when the ports of Riga and Liepāja in the Russian Empire could no longer ensure the export of all goods, the idea arose to use the non-freezing port of Ventspils. The Ventspils-Moscow line was opened section by section from 1901 to 1904. In the current territory of Latvia, this is the longest railway in the section from Zilupe to Ventspils. In the Ventspils-Tukums II section, passenger traffic was interrupted here, then restored again, but closed completely in 2010. Residents, however, still hope for the restoration of passenger transport. But we will stop in Ventspils, find out why there are two stations in Elkškene and what stories Ugāle keeps.
