At first, the railway was not that popular. Soon, however, the message of the railway was understood mainly by prominent families. In the context of Košice, especially the Andrássy family. In 1856, Count Andrássy applied for permission to build a line from Budapest to Miškolec and then one of several branches to Košice. The railway ended in the area of ​​today's railway station, where previously there were regularly flooded marshes and meadows.
