????Don't click here: https://loja.fazendasantigas.com/ The old Bananal sugar mill was founded by a colonel of the national guard in the 19th century, the property was known in the Alagoas region as “Sobradão do Coronel”. Shortly thereafter, the property was acquired by Antônio Leite dos Passos, great-grandfather of the current owner Felipe Luna, who bought the property in 1919 from Colonel Manoel Fernandes Costa, as at the time he had lost his position in the national guard and opted to sell the sugar mill. Antônio Leite acquired the property at the request of his fiancée Antônia Brandão, she had asked for the Bananal house as a gift, a property that has been passed down through generations to this day, who have made a great contribution to its preservation with Luiz Loureiro Luna and Ulisses Leite Luna. BANANAL FARM Viçosa – AL #oldfarm 1870* A historic farm with livestock and the breeding of Mangalarga Marchador horses is the perfect combination, do you agree? The farm continued to produce coffee and sugar cane for years. However, the farm is currently focused on livestock and breeding Mangalarga Machador horses, which have been recognized at a national level and have produced several award-winning animals. This activity is run by Luiz Felipe Luna, the 5th generation of the family, who gave us a little more insight into how the LFL stud farm operates, which has been operating for over a decade. A curious structure was recently found on the property, similar to a secret, partially filled-in tunnel discovered 100 years later, in the likely location of the old mill, which currently houses a large garden. This mill, when it was in constant production, probably had a significant economic presence, since the historical heritage found there, as well as the structure of the mansion, are significant items that demonstrate local wealth, synonymous with hard work and wealthy mill owners. The mansion was built in 1901 and has two styles on its façade. On the upper part, we see a neo-Gothic style and on the lower part, a more classical style, seen through the straighter lines, bringing a Roman influence in the round arches. It is clear that all the finishing touches reflect the time period. It is strategically positioned in the center of the farm. The name of the farm and the respective date of its construction are written on its main entrance. However, although the date is already in the 20th century, there are records prior to that date that reaffirmed the activity present there through the 1870s. The interior of the mansion of the old farms was usually divided into wings, there was a commercial wing and a more intimate wing for the family. On the Bananal farm, we can see a bit of this tradition of the time. On the ground floor of the mansion, there is an office, currently still in use, 2 old bedrooms, now repurposed, a dining room and an entrance hallway. The entire floor is made of tile, a characteristic of large houses in the northeast region, and the ceilings have the traditional skirt and blouse. On the first floor of the house, there is a wide hallway, providing the house with proper ventilation, a stunning living room, 4 bedrooms and other adapted rooms. There are many rich details here, such as the preserved period furniture in the living room, complete with Austrian-style furniture, which refers to the vine. The dining room is stunning, with several period pieces of furniture, including a famous carillon, as stated in the property deed. It is like an original period oratory, with old details of sacred art. The house is surrounded by original period railings, with a rivet base, which makes them more durable due to the absence of steel welding. These railings can be seen around the large house, on the upper balconies and in some flags on the doors and windows. The entire base of the house is made of brick and lime mortar. In the front of the house you can see a pair of period benches, in a very curious style, their backrests and accents are made of wood and the feet are made of iron and have a very different shape for the perfect seating.
