This open-access continuing education webinar covers Cardiac imaging, calcium scoring and coronary CT in the detection of cardiovascular diseases. It was presented on October 4, 2023 by Dr. Arnaud Grégoire, radiologist FMH, 3R and Dr. Jean-Paul Durand, cardiologist FMH. It was moderated by Dr. Olivier Berrebi, radiologist and nuclear medicine specialist FMH, 3R The calcium score is recognized as an excellent biomarker of the risk of coronary artery disease and cardiovascular events. It is especially useful in asymptomatic patients where it is considered a risk modifier; for example, in diabetics, it allows the patient's risk category to be reclassified (moderate risk, high risk, very high risk). On the other hand, the calcium score only allows us to see the calcified part of the atheromatous load, which is visible from the iceberg. Since the recommendations of the European Society of Cardiology in 2019, coronary CT scanning has taken a prominent place in cases of cardiothoracic symptoms (chest pain, dyspnea), in a patient at low or intermediate cardiovascular risk, to rule out coronary disease or to screen for it. Dr. Arnaud Grégoire talks about the basics of cardiac CT scanning and presents some clinical cases. Dr. Jean-Paul Durand details his interest in coronary CT scanning and tells us about the current recommendations of the European Society of Cardiology. Dr. Olivier Berrebi presents and moderates the training.
